At Gear UP! we work with youth employment agencies, like ReStart, to select students who want to build skills and gain experience as an employee while getting paid to do it.
Green and CleanKingston is definitely a cycle-able city, and cycling is safe, healthy and environmentally-friendly. We empower cyclists to experience pedal power...and our relationship with Cycle Kingston means we can direct less experienced cyclists to fun ways to learn cycling skills.

Kingston is home to many post-secondary students, new immigrants, and families and individuals who have limited resources. We are happy to be a source of affordable transportation by refurbishing and selling used bikes to help those who need it get around to shop, work or go to school.
Cycling EducationOur parent organization, Cycle Kingston, has been offering safe cycling workshops and courses for ten years! Even if you are a competent cyclist, we recommend taking a course - it's amazing what you'll learn and how much safer and more confident you will be as a cyclist. A definite must for newbies!

I like working at Gear Up because I get to learn new things while also gaining experience for my future employment. It has also given me the opportunity to improve my social skills

Want to get involved? Great! Here's how:
We will gladly accept your used bicycle, as long as it is in reasonably decent condition so that our Bike Mechanics can repair it to be safely operational. We will also accept donations of bike accessories, and of course, we will accept donations of cash. Gear Up! is an initiative of Cycle Kingston, a registered charity who can offer donation receipts for anything over $20. |
Are you looking for an affordable, green mode of transportation? Then we can probably help you out. We've got a constant supply of bicycles being refurbished. They are sold at an affordable price and we accept cash, debit, credit and e-transfer. We also sell helmets and bike locks, both of which we highly recommend. Not only that, but we can give you some bike safety advice, or better yet, hook you up with the experts at Cycle Kingston who'd be happy to offer you a cycling skills and safety course.
